Editorial Staffs

The Society for Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents, Japan is an academic organization, intended to contribute social welfare, where industrial, academic and governmental researchers and technical experts exchange information on weapons and strategies to quantitatively control the growth environment by means of physical, chemical, and biological procedures. The society publishes periodically a monthly official journal "Journal of Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents" in Japanese with abstracts in English and a quarterly "Journal of Microorganism Control" in English. In addition to an annual meeting and a general conference, a variety of seminars, symposia, technical meetings and research conferences are held from time to time. Such activities promote an antibacterial and antifungal academic exchange ranging from basic to applied fields. Your kind cooperation is highly appreciated.

Outline

1. Purposes The Society for Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents, Japan aims to establish global research activities by joining interdisciplinary researchers and technical experts to prevent microorganisms in clothing, food, housing and their related industries as well as to prevent damage caused by microorganism-derived substances, thus contributing to the scientific, industrial and social development.
2. Activities

(1) Publication of academic journals and technical books

  • ・Monthly journal "Journal of Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents" (12 issues/year)
  • ・Quarterly English journal "Biocontrol Science" (4 issues/year)
  • ・"Proceedings of Annual/General Conference" (1 issue/year)

(2) Holding of conferences and research meetings

  • Conferences: Annual General Conference, Workshop of experimental microbiology, Symposium on GMP and Validation, etc.
  • Groups: Research groups for control system of microorganisms.

(3) Awards of Academic Achievements

Society Award, Research Encouragement Prize, Technical Development Prize, Academic Paper Prize, etc.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE MEMBERSHIP

The Society for Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents, Japan are now seeking prospective individual and/or company members who are willing to participate and support this society. Followings are information for prospective members.

Benefits Members are entitled to receive a monthly official journal "Journal of Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents" (Japanese edition) with abstracts in English.
Annual Due

Annual membership due (including subscription to a monthly offical journal) is as follows. No joining fee is required.

Overseas Members:

Yen 10,000.- (including a quarterly journal (English edition) "Biocontrol Science")

Residents in Japan:

  • Regular member: An individual person who agrees to the aim of this society and joins with us: Yen 9,500.-
  • Corporate member: A corporation who agrees to the aim of this society and joins with us to support activities: Yen 35,000.-
  • Patron member: A corporation who agrees to the aim of this society and joins with us to support financial burden: Yen 60,000.-
  • Student member: A graduate, college or similar institute student who agrees to the aim of this society and joins with us: Yen 3,000.-
Fiscal Year The fiscal year of this society begins on April 1 and ends on March 31 of the next year. For those who apply for the membership between January and March 31, the membership will automatically be valid after the next fiscal year, e.g., from the coming April 1. For those who apply after April 1, the back number of the fiscal year, if available, will be sent.

  2. Please notify the records to be changed with your membership No. and your name.
  3. To change records, it takes two to three weeks. Your copy may be delivered once to the uncorrected address if your notice is delayed.
(The preparation for shipping the journal is in principle made five to fifteen days before shipping. For example the preparation for shipping has been made ten days before shipping, and your notification of change has received five days before shipping, the change of address label is valid since the next month.)

Chapter One: Name and Headquarters

Article 1: The Society bears the name "The Society for Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents, Japan"

Article 2: Headquarters are located in: (c/o Shin-kosan Building) 13-38, Nishi-hon-machi 1-chome, Nishi-ku, Osaka 550-0005 / JAPAN

Chapter Two: Purposes and Activities

Article 6: Those who wish to join the Society should submit a prescribed application form to the Society in order to be approved by a board of directors

Article 7: The annual membership due is as follows:
Overseas Members: Yen 10,000.- (including a quarterly journal "Biocontrol Science")
Other members resident in Japan: Omitted (See "About Us, 4. Annual Membership Due")
No entering fee is required. The membership due should be paid in advance and no refund is made for any reason.

Article 8: Those who wish to cancel the membership should submit a cancellation notice in writing to the president. Unpaid membership due should be paid in full before cancellation.

Article 9: Through the decision of the general meeting, the president may remove those from the society who correspond to any of the following reasons either:
・loss of the honor of the Society,
・the act against the purposes of the Society, or
・non-payment of the membership due for at least last one year.

Chapter Four: Directors, Trustees, Advisers and Secretaries

Article 10: The Society is managed by: ・not less than fifteen but not more than twenty directors (including one president and two deputy presidents), and ・two auditors.
